Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for preventing the polymerization in which the formation of a polymer causing a problem in purifying, storing, transporting and carrying out esterification reaction of methacrylic acid can be prevented and a high-purity methacrylic acid product without contamination by a foreign substance can be obtained.
CONSTITUTION: One or more methacrylic acid chromium trinuclear complexes expressed by the formula [Cr3(μ3-O)(μ-MAA)6(H2O)3]X (Cr is chromium atom; MAA is methacrylic acid carboxylate anion; X is chloride, nitrate, sulfate ion or methacrylic carboxylate anion) at 0.1-100ppm concentration are made to exist in methacrylic acid.
