PURPOSE: To completely automate supply/discharge of an optical head to/from an inspecting unit, insertion/removal of the head to/from a head driving mechanism, connector connection, etc.

CONSTITUTION: The optical head automatic supplying apparatus comprises a magazine housing 51 provided oppositely to an optical head inspecting unit 4 to laterally/longitudinally arrange and contain a plurality of optical heads 1, a magazine 5 having a lateral/longitudinal moving mechanism 52 for laterally/ longitudinally moving the housing 51 to sequentially correspond the contained heads l to a head driving mechanism 43 by the lateral/longitudinal movements, an optical head moving/inserting/removing unit 6 provided in the unit 4 to draw the corresponding head 1 from the magazine 5 to insert it into the mechanism 43, to remove it upon finishing of inspecting and to contain it in the magazine, and a controller for controlling the mechanism 5 and the unit 6.
