PURPOSE: To improve resolution and to correct the dispersion of output between the pictures of a solid-state image pickup device(CCD) by providing a pair of prisms which refract light.
CONSTITUTION: A lens 3 focuses the light from an original 1 on the CCD 4. The prisms P, Q are arranged symmetrically optically. The displacing quantity d1, d2 of the prisms P, Q can be adjusted by a driving voltage applied to bimorph type piezoelectric actuators 5, 6, and distance between the prisms P, Q is changed, which makes an optical axis 2 perform parallel displacement. For example, the driving voltage of the piezoelectric actuator is adjusted so as to shift the optical axis 2 by 1/4 picture elements of the CCD 4 by moving the prism P. Also, the driving voltage of the piezoelectric actuator 6 is adjusted so as to shift the optical axis 2 by 1/2 picture elements by moving the prism Q. In this way, the displacing quantity d3 of the optical axis 2 can be changed in four ways, thereby, four kinds of data can be obtained for an image at the same point, which quadruples the resolution.
