PURPOSE: To industrially and stably obtain the subject compound having antiinflammatory, hypotensive, central nervous system controlling and blood platelet agglutination inhibiting actions by carrying out the organ culture of a root or an adventitious root of Sinomenium acutum Rehd. et Wils., separating and collecting dauricine from the cultured root.

CONSTITUTION: A leaf of Sinomenium acutum Rehd. et Wils. collected in April is washed with water, then immersed in a 70% ethanol for 10 min and a 1% antiformin solution for 10min and washed with sterile water. A slice of the leaf is cut and divided into a size of 1cm square. The resultant square is then bedded on a culture medium containing naphthaleneacetic acid, benzyladenine, sucrose and agar and cultured at 27°C for 30 days to provide a callus, which is subsequently subcultured in the same culture medium and rooted. The obtained root is cut out and shaken in a culture medium containing indoleacetic acid and sucrose at 27°C to carry out the organ culture. The cultured root is then extracted with methanol and a citric acid solution is added to the obtained extract to remove insoluble substances. The pH of the filtrate is regulated to 9-10 and extraction is performed with ether. The resultant extract is purified by high-performance liquid chromatography to afford the dauricine expressed by the formula (Me is methyl).
