CONSTITUTION: A RAM controller 6 is provided with a line and a column counters for data write-in to a RAM 7. Then, it loads position data, etc., from a shift register 5, and at the time of the data write-in to the RAM 7, it supplies a line and a column addresses. Here, in the case that control data from a microcomputer 3 is of a mode to display the character in a vertical direction on the screen of a view finder 12, if the line counter to generate the line address overflows, the column counter is made to step. On the other hand, in the case of the mode to display the character in a horizontal direction, if the column counter to generate the column address overflows, the line counter is made to step. Thus, the character can be displayed in the horizontal and the vertical directions on the screen by the minimum amount of the information.
