Title:
IMPLANTABLE BIOMEDICAL SENSOR BEING SUITABLE FOR MEASURING CONCENTRATION OF PHYSIOLOGICAL SUBSTANCE IN LIVING BODY AND METHOD FOR MEASUREMENT OF PHYSIOLOGICAL SUBSTANCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH067324
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain implantable biomedical sensors for in vivo measurement of physiological substances such as glucose in human or animal. CONSTITUTION: The sensor is composed of the following items. 1) A miniaturized electric reactor 3 capable of non-contact exchange of 2 types of encoded informations using a transmitter/receiver contained in a capsule 2 made of biologically compatible raw materials. 2) At least one working electrode 10 penetrating the wall of the capsule. 3) A pair of counter electrodes 8, preferably with a reference electrode 9. Each electrode and the electric reactor are electrically connected. The working electrode 10 is composed of a hollow fiber membrane spread over the membrane, the inner surface of which is coated with an electroconductive polymer covered with an immobilized oxidoreductase.
