Abstract:
PURPOSE: To remarkably reduce a foreign particle removal operation required for reusing a foamed polystyrene material by a method wherein the aggregate of the foamed polystyrene material as a waste article still containing a fixed amount of foreign particles in a mixed state is successively coarsely crushed, finely ground and decreased in volume by a mechanical shearing force, and impact ground at the softening temperature thereof or lower to be processed to irregular resin particles.
CONSTITUTION: A waste article of a foamed polystyrene material having a density of 0.1-0.01g/cm3 and containing 10wt.% or less foreign particle in a mixed state is coarsely crushed to 5-50mm in average particle diameter in a mechanical manner, thereafter being supplied between a fixed platen having a recess and a rotating platen to be finely ground. At the same time, the foamed material is softened and deaired by a frictional heat generated when passing through a small gap between the fixed platen and the rotating platen to be five or more times higher in density and 2-20mm in average particle diameter. This finely ground material is ground to 1m or less in average particle diameter and 0.2-0.7g/cm3 in density by an impact grinder at the softening temperature of the foamed material or lower. The obtained irregular resin particles are reduced and uniformized in particle diameter together with the foreign particles, thus being available for a molding material or a bulk filler.
