PURPOSE: To make a drip box useless by evaporating drips attached to a pot lid through the output of a temperature detection means of the pot lid provided in the cover member of an electric cooking apparatus for controlling a cooking process such as boiling through a microcomputer according to a decided rice-boiling capacity.

CONSTITUTION: A rice boiler 1 is constituted by a cover part 2, a body part 3, inner pot 4, inner pot-receiving container 5, rice-boiling heater 6 in the bottom of the inner pot, thermal insulation heater 7 in the cylindrical part of the receiving container 5, inner-cover heater 1 in the shoulder of the receiving container 5, control unit 8 having a microcomputer, etc., built-in, and the others. Also, the bottom of the inner pot 4 is provided with the temperature sensor 9 of the inner pot 4. The shoulder of the inner pot 4 comes into contact a pot lid 4a and is further covered with the cover part 2. The pot lid 4a is made of aluminum and is provided with a pot lid-supporting pin 201 in the center, in which a pot-lid temperature sensor 202 is provided. A predetermined quantity of rice and water is thrown into the inner pot 4 and rice boiling is indicated by a function display selective operation unit 10. When the output of the pot-lid temperature sensor 202 reaches a predetermined value, the inner-cover heater 41 is turned on. Thus, drips of the pot lid 4a evaporate so that a drip box is made useless.
