PURPOSE: To provide an ink-jet printing method capable of printing a functional substance such as metal powder which cannot be incorporated in an ink.
CONSTITUTION: An ink containing a component capable of insolubilizing an adhesive is applied to an adhesive layer on a substrate by an ink-jet process, a functional substance is brought into contact with the applied ink to effect the adhesion of the substance and the non-fixed functional substance is removed. As alternatives, an ink containing a component to eliminate the adhesivity of an adhesive is applied to the adhesive layer on a substrate by ink-jet process, a functional substance is brought into contact with the applied ink to effect the adhesion of the substance and the non-fixed functional substance is removed or an ink containing a component capable of insolubilizing an adhesive is applied to a substrate by an ink-jet process, an adhesive containing a functional substance is brought into contact with the ink to effect the adhesion of the substance and the non-fixed functional substance is removed. As the fourth embodiment of the invention, an ink containing a component to eliminate the adhesivity of an adhesive is applied to a substrate, an adhesive containing a functional substance is brought into contact with the ink to effect the adhesion of the substance and the non-fixed functional substance is removed.
