Abstract:
PURPOSE:To speed up a matching process by using a storage cell corresponding to a cell at a part encircled with a parabolic line on a fingerprint and a concentric circle. CONSTITUTION:Storage areas are formed one-to-one correspondence with respective cells which are divided into blocks with parabolic lines determined at equal intervals while having their origin at the center point of the fingerprint and concentric circles having several radii. Consequently, the cells become larger toward the peripheral part, so an error due to distortion which becomes more conspicuous toward the peripheral part of the fignerprint is reducible and all the storage cells can be put in parallel arithmetic operation, thereby improving the arithmetic speed greatly. When the center points of both a search fingerprint pattern and a file fingerprint pattern are clear, coordinate conversion is performed only by rotational conversion which is advantageous for polar coordinates, so, specially, fast processing becomes possible.
