PURPOSE: To accomplish an image pickup device capable of easily picking up an image while focusing on the whole object even in the case the object is large in size.

CONSTITUTION: The device is provided with a focus correcting means for moving a focus with reference to the object 12 slightly far away from the object 12, and in the case a part of the object 12 is deviated from a depth of field of the camera 13 when the camera 13 is focused on the object 12, by correcting the focus by the focus correcting means and then picking up the image of the object 12, the whole object 12 can be put within the extents of the depth of fields 19A and 19B even in the case the object 12 is large in size, then, the image of the whole object 12 is easily picked up in a focused state. Thus, the whole object 12 is projected without causing blurring.
