PURPOSE: To avoid inconsistency between a selected position of an operating means and that of an A/T in a system where a controller controls a select position switch driving means of the A/T on the basis of a command of the operating means operated by a driver.
CONSTITUTION: An operating device for a vehicular automatic transmission is provided with a driving unit 5 for driving an operation input unit 3 on the basis of a signal output from a controller 4. In the driving unit, a V-shaped plate 31 is provided for pushing up a pin 13 of a select lever 12 engaged with a detention plate 16 upon turning-on of a solenoid 33, so as to change a position of the lever by its elevation. The top of the V shape is located in a position corresponding to, e.g. an N range. During traveling, an actuator 6 of an A/T 2 switches a range to N while the pin 13, i.e., a selected position of the operating input unit 3 is forcibly changed to the N range according to elevation control of the plate 31 in the case of unsuitable lever operation from D to R. The selected positions accord with each other, whereby operation by a driver himself becomes unnecessary.
