PURPOSE: To designate a shape, a size and a position in a picture into which a character and the like are drawn, to electrically and easily insert a balloon, to easily display letters in the balloon and to easily synthesize them with the character and the like.

CONSTITUTION: At first, the character is formed (step 10), and a background is formed (step 12). Then, the shape, the size and the position are designated in a screen where the character and the background are drawn, and a synthesized picture obtained by synthesizing the character and the balloon is finally formed (step 14). The printing processing of a synthesized screen is executed (step 16), or the letters in the balloon are sound-synthesized if need so as to output sound (step 18). Thus, the balloon is electrically and easily inserted while it is matched with the character. The letters are displayed in the balloon and they are synthesis-displayed with the character.
