PURPOSE: To easily obtain an avian virus antigen protein by infecting e.g. insects with specific hybrid virus incorporated with a gene coding an antigen protein for avian Newcastle disease which is then proliferated.
CONSTITUTION: A plasmid containing an antigen gene coding an antigen protein for avian Newcastle disease is treated with restriction enzyme, and a fragment portion corresponding to the open leading frame of this protein is cut, and the projected end of the fragment is smoothed and bound to baculovirus transfer vector. Then, insects (e.g. silkworm) as host or established cells thereof are infected with AcNPV-BmNPV hybrid virus incorporated with the resultant vector followed by proliferating the host to manifest the antigen protein, thus easily obtaining the avian virus antigen protein useful for the vaccine for the purpose of preventing avian Newcastle disease.
