PURPOSE: To vary the delay time of a signal by changing over the number of transfer bits transferring information charges.

CONSTITUTION: A first input section 20 and a second input section 30 are connected to a charge transfer section 1. Each input section 20, 30 is composed of pairs of input control electrodes 22, 23, 32, 33 arranged onto input channel regions 21, 31 respectively, transfer electrodes 26, 27, 28, 36, 37 having the structure of signal electrodes 24, 34, and diffusion regions 25, 35 continuing to the input channel regions 21, 31. Transfer electrodes 38, 26 adjacent to the input control electrodes 23, 33 are given transfer clocks A, B selectively operated while being synchronized with a transfer clock 1, and information charges are input to the charge transfer section 1 from either one of both input sections 20, 30. Accordingly, the number of the transfer bits of information charges is changed over.
