Abstract:
PURPOSE: To automatically or manually enable the correction of a zero point at a start time of the control and measurement of a timer by providing a flow control means for directly supplying a gas with zero alcohol content to a measuring device and a cooperation means for adjusting the zero point of a measuring means.
CONSTITUTION: The dampening fluid container 1 of an offset printing press is filled with a dampening fluid 3 and a bell-shaped container 2 having a lower opening is dipped in the fluid 3 under the surface 4 of the fluid. A conduit 6 passes through the upper cover part 5 of the container 2 to extend into the fluid 3 to be opened above the opening of the container 2. Compressed air is directed through the conduit 6 as shown by an arrow to issue as air bubbles from the end part of the conduit 6 to bubble at the top part of the fluid level 4 within the limitation of the container 2. When air is allowed to bubble through the fluid 3, air concentrates alcohol absorbed from the fluid 3 and an air forming gas mixture, steam and combustible alcohol vapor are discharged from the interior of the container 2 as shown by an arrow through the measuring pipe 7 connecting the space in the container 2 to a metering device 8 and the share of combustible alcohol vapor in the gas mixture is measured.
