PURPOSE: To provide the on-vehicle navigator which can reduce the burden on an image process.

CONSTITUTION: Before departure, map data stored on a CD-ROM 1 are referred to and a search part 15 finds the best guidance route connecting a starting point to a destination and road data on the surroundings of intersections on the guidance course and stores them in a guidance course memory 16. During traveling, an image of the guidance course at the surroundings of a vehicle and roads nearby the intersection on the guidance course is displayed on a CRT display device 4 under the control of a map drawing control part 13 according to the vehicle position data and the data stored in the guidance course memory.
