PURPOSE: To obviate the generation of a pseudo gap of the core for the MIG head having the construction disposed with magnetic metallic films near a magnetic gap.

CONSTITUTION: A 2nd core member is butted against a 1st core member provided with a coil winding groove in such a manner that the aperture of such coil winding groove is closed to form the prescribed magnetic gap between the butt parts on one side of such core members. On the other hand, the butt parts on the other side are integrally joined to form the core for the magnetic head. The part existing in at least one butt part of the 2nd core member is formed as a nonmagnetic part and the magnetic metallic film formed to a small width in the one butt part so as to impart the prescribed track width is extended toward the other butt part. In addition, a gap spacer consisting of a nonmagnetic material having a prescribed thickness is interposed between the magnetic metallic films and the one butt part of the 1st core member to form the above-mentioned magnetic gap between these magnetic metallic films and the 1st core member. An annular magnetic path including at least the 1st core member and the magnetic metallic films is thus formed.
