Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a signal processor, equipped with a chrominance subsampler 10 which samples U and V components of a PAL video signal, in response to an activity start signal. CONSTITUTION: A counter 30 which responds to a horizontal synchronization component of a line-phase inverted PAL video signal generates an activity start signal, once having detected a specific number of horizontal synchronization pulses. Logic parts 60, 70, and 80 which respond to vertical synchronization components of the PAL video signal reset the counter 30 once detecting vertical synchronization pulses to inhibit the counter from being used. Logics 50, 60, 70, and 80, once detecting a specific polarity in a V-component of the PAL video signal, restarts the counter 30 in the reset state.
