To provide a nano transition metal particles with which the hydrogen absorption and desorption rates of a hydrogen absorption material can be made higher and the hydrogen absorption and desorportion temperatures can be made lower, and a production method thereof, and to provide a hydrogen absorption composite material which can absorb and desorb a larg amount of hydrogen at a lower temperature.
The production method of the nano transition metal particles comprises: a particulate formation process of heating and evaporating a transition metal in an inert gas to form the particulates of the transition metal; and a mechanical comminution treatment process of forming the nano transition metal particles by subjecting the particulates of the transition metal to a mechanical comminution treatment and further to grain refining. The obtained nano transition metal particles are composited in a high dispersion state with the hydrogen absorption material to thereby produce the hydrogen absorption composite material.
