Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a new naphthalene derivative, having excellent suppressing actions on bronchoconstriction and/or selective inhibiting actions on phosphodiesterase IV and useful as an antiasthmatic agent.
SOLUTION: This naphthalene derivative of formula I (R1 and R2 are each H or hydroxyl group which may be protected; either of R3 and R4 is hydroxyl group-substituted methyl which may be protected; the other is H, a lower alkyl or hydroxyl group-substituted methyl which may be protected; R5 and R6 are each H, a lower alkyl, phenyl, amino which may be protected, etc.) or its pharmacologically permissible salt, e.g. 1-[2-(1-oxo-1,2-dihydroisoquinolin-2-yl)-4- pyridyl]-2,3-bis(acetoxymethyl)-6,7-diethoxynaphthalene. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting, e.g. a compound of formula II (R11 and R21 are each same as R1 and R2 respectively; R31 and R41 are each same as R3 and R4 respectively; X is a halogen) with a compound of formula III containing nitrogen, etc.
