PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide naphthol red that is excellent in dispersibility and color development by controlling the particle shape, to provide a resin composition, a water-based dispersion and a solvent-based dispersion each colored with the naphthol red and to provide a method for producing the naphthol red.SOLUTION: The naphthol red has an axial ratio (average major axis diameter/average minor axis diameter) of the primary particle in the range of 1.0 to 2.0 and a powder pH in the range of 4.0 to 9.0. The resin composition, the water-based dispersion and the solvent-based dispersion each contains the naphthol red. The method for producing the naphthol red is provided.SELECTED DRAWING: None
