Abstract:
PURPOSE:To detect a very narrow gap by projecting laser light whose diameter is about half of the gap formed at the time of butting work pieces. CONSTITUTION:A laser driving circuit in a detecting sensor 4 is operated to oscillate laser light 13, and this light is projected through a projection lens 11. The laser light 13 is reflected by the surface of a work 10 and strikes on an optical position detecting element through a light receiving lens 12. The presence or absence of the gap is discriminated by the quantity of the light. That is, the change of the quantity of light is converted to an electric signal and is outputted through an arithmetic circuit and a linear circuit and is supplied as position information data to a storage circuit of a robot and is used for working of the work 10. With respect to the sensor 4, a shielding plate 14 and an air exhaust nozzle 15 are formed as one body in a position facing a torch shaft. Thus, the welding light or the like for welding work does not reach the sensor 4, and lenses 11 and 12 are protected from heat and pollution.
