Abstract:
Pneumatic tyre is mounded on a very narrow wheel. The thickness of the tyre rims is at least a third of the width of the wheel. Typically a 155 mm tyre is mounted on a 37 mm wheel rim (ration >4:1). If a tyre of the usual type loses all or most of its inflation pressure, the rims of the tyre are liable to come away from the wheel rims, leaving the tyre uncontrollable. The invention overcomes this by mounting the tyre on so narrow a wheel that there is no room for its rims to come away in this fasion. Also a flat tyre does not run so hot on a 37 mm wheel as on the normal 80 mm.
