Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing a pipe joint having a contracted part and relatively small number of welding parts in which even the contracted part with a short and sharp incline can be formed by one operation of contracting without generating buckling.
CONSTITUTION: A part of a raw material pipe 11 is cut in a V-shape to form a notched part 12 for contracting. The raw material pipe 11 with the notched part 12, after being heated to a specified temperature, is inserted into a mould 20. In the next step, a part of the pipe staying in the mould 20 is contracted by pressure until the formed surfaces 12a, 12b of the notched part 12 being joined each other and then cooled. The joined surface of 12b of the notched part of the raw material pipe is welded through a slit 23 installed previously in the mold 20.
