To perform positioning computations more highly accurately than in conventional techniques, by reducing the effects of multipath waves and accuracy reductions in positioning computations due to the arrangement of each transmitter station.
A navigation apparatus 10 is provided with a velocity vector computer 33, a mask processing part 23, a position and speed calculator 22, and a matching part 35. The mask processing part 23 computes the relative bearing of each GPS satellite with respect to the traveling direction of the navigation apparatus 10 and the angle of elevation of each GPS satellite, on the basis of received radio signals and masks each GPS satellite, on the basis of the computed relative bearing and the computed angle of elevation so as not to be used for positioning computations. The position and speed calculator 22 computes the position of own vehicle, on the basis of signals received from unmasked GPS satellites. The matching part 35 specifies the present position, on the basis of prescribed map data, a velocity vector computed by the velocity vector computer 33, and the position of own vehicle computed by the position and speed calculator 22.
