To provide a navigation apparatus which reduces deterioration in positioning accuracy by the influence of multipath without significantly increasing the amount of data of a map database.

An elevation mask value is recorded on the data of each road element of the map database stored in a storage section 4. The elevation mask value for roads in an area such as an urban area in which greater influence of multipath than roads in other areas is expected is set to be large. A positioning section 31 performs positioning using signals from a GPS satellite having a larger elevation than the elevation mask value.
