PURPOSE: To make the vehicle travel at a travel speed matching a road shape by putting an alarm in operation and indicating that the vehicle travels exceeding a warning speed (dangerous speed) when the current position is in a warning area and the travel speed exceeds the warning speed corresponding to the warning area.
CONSTITUTION: The 1st warning speed of a warning area AA1 based upon a change point Pc1 of map data and the 2nd warning speed of a warning area AS based upon an optionally set warning point PS are regarded as warning speeds. Then while the current position PN is between the warning areas AA1 and AS, the travel speed is compared with the warning speeds and when the travel speed exceeds the warning speeds, the alarm is put in operation to indicate a dangerous speed. Consequently, the travel speed is adjusted according to the state of the alarm and the vehicle is made to travel, so that the vehicle can travels in safety at the travel speed matching the road shape.
