Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether there is sufficient power to reach the destination with high accuracy in an electric car which uses power stored in a power storage device for traveling, and to enable the car to reach the destination without power shortage.SOLUTION: A navigation device 100 determines whether a vehicle can reach the destination with power remaining in a battery of the vehicle on the basis of residual power information and a mode energy consumption value, and searches, when it is determined that the vehicle cannot reach the destination, for a route to a power charging facility, as a new destination, located within a range to be reached with the residual power. The mode energy consumption value is always constant unlike a past average energy consumption value, thereby accurately determining run-out of power regardless of the timing of calculating distance to empty.
