To improve the rapidity of the instruction and the operability by upgrading the priority of the processing function desired to be realized next, based on the set condition stored in a device condition storing means and/or the running condition of a vehicle detected by a running condition detecting means.
To display a map in the vicinity of the present position on a display 13 by a user, a display switch provided on the operation system 15 is pressed to start the interruption. A controller 11 receives the designated input by the kind of the object from the operation system 15, the positional information of the designated object, the map information in the vicinity of the object, and the processing function information related to the information are read from a ROM 7 through a CD ROM driver 9, and the information is stored in a RAM 11c. The controller 11 operates and displays the traveling distance to the designated object, and if the destination or the passing place is already set, the priority is lowered, and the processing function can be easily selected by setting the priority of the 'traveling cost' processing function to be highest.
