In a navigation device 1, a road map is indicated on a screen of a monitor 5 based on position information detected by a position detection device 3 and a road map information read from a map memory device 2. Traffic information fetched by a traffic information receiving device 11 is converted by a CPU 4, indicated on the screen of the monitor 5 superimposing on the road map. Only the traffic information which is selected from the traffic information received by the traffic information receiving device 11 based on selection information is indicated on the screen of the monitor 5. That is, only the optimum traffic information selected from the received information on the basis of the related information is indicated thereon. As a result, since the optimum information suitable for a driver's vehicle is indicated on the monitor 5, the screen does not become complicated and the drover is not confused thereby, then safety is enhanced.
