To provide a navigation system with non-contact range detecting function wherein, with no speed information inside a mobile body required to be taken out, attaching of the system is easier and a moving distance is measured with high precision at always.
A distance information 4 displayed at an integrating range finder 2 of a mobile body is detected in non-contact manner with a pick-up optical system, and from it together with the output from an azimuth detecting means 14, a mobile body's position is calculated. The pick-up optical system allow a distance display image to be projected with a spacially-divided photo- detecting element for detecting change in distance. Errors in the integrating range finder is corrected with GPS position and speed output.
