To provide an NC lathe which can carry out turning and machining of a long workpiece over the entire length without inverting (setup change) of the workpiece, automatically and safely, based on numeric control.

The NC lathe has: a main spindle section 6 which is provided with an automatic right chuck 7 and an automatic left chuck 5 on both sides of a through hole penetrated therein, for securing the long workpiece 32 thereto and rotating the same; right and left tailstocks 14, 1 which are arranged on one of beds of the main spindle section 6, for rotatably gripping one end of the long workpiece 32; right and left reciprocating mounts 8, 4 which are movably arranged between the main spindle section 6 and the right and left tailstocks 14, 1, respectively; a workpiece suspension support 11 which is arranged in the right reciprocative mount 8, for mounting the long workpiece 32 thereon; right and left tool rests 9, 3 which are arranged on the right and left reciprocating mounts 8, 4, for setting a tool for turning and machining one portion of the long workpiece 32; and a console panel 12 which commands and controls movement and turning and machining of the long workpiece 32, based on numerical information.
