PURPOSE: To simplify a device in structure as well as to improve its operatability, by installing a rocking function generator outputting a command position, which rocks a wheel spindle stock in a Z-axis direction simultaneously with its movement in the Z-axis direction, and a combined circuit outputting the command position with both rocking and Z-axis command positions.
CONSTITUTION: When a grinding position and grinding width are determined by a work, machining programs and position data are given to a tape 11, then rocking strokes and frequency are inputted into a control panel 20 and stored in a data memory 21. A decoder 12 is read by a machining command, and a command position for an unrocked Z-axis is inputted from a Z-axis function generator 13. Likewise, when a rocking command is given out of the decoder 12, a rocking command position for the Z-axis is outputted by a rocking function generator 22, and these two outputs are combined at a combined circuit and inputted into a comparative amplifier 14, whereby a grinding wheel is rocked according to a speed feedback value in comparison with a position detector 17.
