Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the fiber cord having excellent hot flexural fatigue resistance and freeze resistance by immersing a rubber-reinforcing glass fiber in a treating liquid containing a rubber latex, an alkylated chlorosulfonated polyethylene latex and an RF condensation product.
CONSTITUTION: A glass fiber strand for rubber-reinforcement is coated with a treating liquid containing (A) a rubber latex consisting of a vinylpyridine- styrene-butadiene terpolymer latex and/or a styrene-butadiene copolymer latex, (B) an alkylated chlorosulfonated polyethylene latex and (C) a water-soluble condensation product of resorcinol and formaldehyde, and the coated strand is heat-treated and twisted to obtain the objective glass fiber cord. The treated fiber cord has high adhesivity especially to heat-resistant rubbers such as hydrogenated nitrile rubber and is suitable as a reinforcing material for timing belt.
