PURPOSE: To prevent formation of a stepped section and occurrence of baneful thermal influences at the pointed end section of a needle, by inclining the feeding direction of needles held between a feeding table and turning table by a prescribed angle to the axis of a drum-like grindstone when numerous needles are simultaneously ground while they are contacted with the grindstone.

CONSTITUTION: A feeding wheel 4 and turning table 5 which hold numerous needles 3 at once are provided on an inclined base 9 which is rotatable around the center of a drum-like grindstone 1. When the needles 3 are contacted with the grindstone 1 and ground, the needles 3 are rotated and fed under a condition where the axis 6 of the feeding wheel 4 is inclined by 5°W30° to the axis A normal to the axis 2 of the grindstone 1. Therefore, formation of a stepped section and occurrence of baneful thermal influences at the pointed end sections of the needles can be prevented.
