PURPOSE: To produce a felt without using barb for the interlacing of fibers thereby minimizing the damage to the fiber.

CONSTITUTION: The blade part of the objective needle for the production of felt is composed of stems having square cross section and stems having circular cross section alternately arranged in the direction of axis. The damage of the fiber can be minimized by the use of the needle to obtain a felt having excellent quality and soft feeling. A felt can be produced even from an easily breakable fiber such as carbon fiber. The productivity can remarkably be improved, the blade part is easily producible and the breakage and damage of the needle in use can remarkably be decreased to enable high-speed operation.
