PURPOSE: To improve usability by providing a pair of spring tabs in a base portion and forming a slot extending longitudinally in a stem portion in a needle forming a part of a fastener dispensing tool used in fitting article tags to an article by a plastic fastener.

CONSTITUTION: This needle 11 is integrally formed of a single metal sheet by stamping and/or rolling and provided with a narrow, long, hollow, and cylindrical stem portion 13. The stem portion 13 terminates in a sharp tip 15 and has a slot 17 extending longitudinally. The needle 11 includes a base portion 19 including a cylindrical bottom 21 and the slot 23 extending longitudinally is formed in the bottom 21. The base portion 19 is integrally provided with a pair of a staged spring tab 24 having a first and a second portions 25, 26 and a rectangular spring tab 27 acting as a matching member and the base portion 19 is formed into such a dimension as inserted in an opening formed in front end of a nose of a tag-dispensing gun.
