To provide a negative electrode in which stress can be alleviated while adhesiveness between a negative electrode current collector and a negative electrode active material layer is secured and characteristics can be improved, provide a battery using it, and a manufacturing methods of those.
The negative electrode active material layer 12 containing Si as a constituting element is installed at the negative electrode current collector 11. The negative electrode active material layer 12 is provided with a first negative electrode active material layer 121 having first particles formed by being made to grow at the negative electrode current collector 11 by a vapor phase method, and a second negative electrode active material layer 122 having second particles with the average particle size of 0.2 μm to 20 μm deposited by application on the first negative electrode active material layer 121. The first negative electrode active material layer 121 furthermore contains O as the constituting element, and its average content of oxygen is preferably 3 atom% to 40 atom%. Thickness of the first negative electrode active material layer is preferably 0.01 μm to 15 μm.
