To provide a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery that is effective for exerting more superior cycle characteristic while a high discharge capacity is maintained, and to provide its manufacturing method.
This is the negative electrode for the lithium secondary battery which has a foil state current collector containing at least one selected from a group consisting of Fe, Ni, and Cu, and an active material layer formed in a part or whole of one face or both faces of the collector, and in which the active material layer has a following composition. (1) A metal component containing at least one kind from Si and Sn:86 to 97.9 wt.%, (2) an aqueous thickener:0.1 to 1 wt.%, (3) at least one kind of resin component selected from a group consisting of tetrafluoro ethylene-hexafluoro propylene copolymer, polystyrene-maleic acid copolymer, and polytetrafluoro ethylene:1 to 10 wt.%, and (4) carbon component:1 to 3 wt.%.
