Abstract:

To provide a negative electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is high in capacity, also excellent in initial charge/discharge efficiency and cycle characteristics, and further high in safety and reliability, and to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery manufactured using the negative electrode material.

A negative electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a particle made of a silicon-based active material. The particle made of a silicon-based active material is covered with a coating formed of an organic silicon compound containing a perfluoropolyether group. A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is manufactured using the negative electrode material.
