Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negatively chargeable toner suitable for such a developing method that a toner is passed through between a developing sleeve and a regulating blade under pressure to form a thin layer of the charged toner on the sleeve, and excellent in rising property for electrification of the toner, the uniformity of charge amt. and environmental stability.
SOLUTION: This toner is suitable for such a one-component developing method that a toner is supplied to the surface of a toner carrying body and charged by triboelectrification to form a toner thin layer on the carrying body by a regulating member and that the toner layer is used to develop an electrostatic latent image. The toner contains inorg. fine particles externally added. The inorg. fine particles are preliminarily treated with a hydrophobic agent and a silane coupling agent having cationic groups and/or silicone oil having cationic groups, and the contact blow-off charge amt. (Q) of the particles with an iron oxide powder satisfies the relation of -800<Q<0 μC/g.
