Abstract:
To enhance security against attacks from a network.SOLUTION: A computer 100 is capable of network boot through a docking station 300. The computer 100 stores a boot identifier 265 in a storage device that can maintain its integrity with the system. The boot identifier 265 corresponds to data of the same number of bits as a MAC address. An NIC 301 of the docking station 300 has a MAC address 303. When the computer 100 requests a network boot from a boot server 51 through the docking station 300, system firmware rewrites the MAC address 303 with the boot identifier 265 immediately before it. The boot server 51 can manage a boot image with the boot identifier 265 of the computer 100.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
