PURPOSE: To provide the network management equipment able to implement network management whose configuration is coincident with a real network configuration.

CONSTITUTION: A network management equipment T8 connecting to a highest HUBa among plural HUBa, b, c, d, e connected in cascade is provided with a command packet generating section 11 generating at least two command packets being an initial command and a port information return command to recognize automatically the configuration of the HUB and a return packet analysis section 12 analyzing a return packet returned from the HUB receiving the command packet. Thus, the cascade configuration of the HUBs and the configuration of terminal equipments connecting to ports of each HUB are grasped and the network management coincident with the actual configuration is attained.
