Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network switch that allows packets required to be communicated at a low delay to be switched at a low delay and at the same time allows more processing rules to be registered therein in comparison with an ordinary network switch.SOLUTION: The network switch comprises: a hardware switch portion that switches or discards a frame whose allowable delay amounts are less than a predetermined value; a software switch portion, connected to a post stage of the hardware switch portion, which switches or discards a frame whose allowable delay amounts are above the predetermined value; and a multiplexer, connected to respective post stages of the hardware switch portion and the software switch portion, which outputs a frame passing through the hardware switch portion and/or the software switch portion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
