Abstract:

To enable a user to easily recognize that appliance needs software updating, and to execute the update as necessary at low costs in a network system connected to a plurality of appliance.

A home server 11 connected to a network system 10 for home appliance compares latest version information 115 acquired from an external center server 15 with version information 112 acquired from an appliance 12, and determines appliance 12 whose software can be updated. An update notification screen for notifying a user that there is appliance 12 whose software can be updated is displayed on a user's display unit 121. The appliance 12 selected by the user acquires update data from the center server 15, and updates the software. Thus, software can be updated as necessary.
