To obtain a detergent composition having both stability and security as a laundry detergent for textile products in such a method of leaving delicate textile structures including wool and silk to be soaked as to minimally burden on the physical and chemical changes in their hydrous conditions.

This neutral detergent composition is a laundry detergent for textile products and comprises a combination of anionic, nonionic, amphoteric and cationic surfactants, a water-miscible organic solvent and a terpene-based oily citrus pericarp extract, wherein especially the cationic surfactant is soluble to water, and the composition is of fully water-soluble system as the whole and has pH 5-8. The detergent composition exhibits detergency having an effect of leaving, especially, delicate textile products to be soaked, being excellent in finish feeling, particularly touch feeling, smell, or the like, and exhibiting the detergent effect at least comparable to the case with conventional textile products even in the case of mechanical washing for ordinary laundry use.
