Title:
NEUTRAL TINNING BATH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3902829
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a neutral electrolytic tinning bath capable of enhancing the efficiency of dissolution of a metal from an anode and keeping the concn. of the metal constant at the time of tinning work by using a carboxylic acid or its alkali metallic salt or ammonium salt as a complexing agent and imparting a specified pH.
SOLUTION: This neutral electrolytic tinning bath contains a compd. represented by the formula [where each of R1-R3 is H, lower alkyl or -(CH2)nCOOH (1≤n≤3)], preferably glycine as a complexing agent. The complexing agent has both action to dissolve an anode and action to stably disperse dissolved metallic ions at the time plating. Since a tin anode is dissolved by the complexing agent and tin ions can be held in the tinning bath without causing precipitation, the concn. of tin ions in the bath can be kept practically constant at the time of tinning work. When the bath is used at pH 4-8, the efficiency of dissolution of the anode and the efficiency of deposition on the cathode are enhanced.
