Abstract:

To provide a fluorescent material that emits fluorescence by irradiation with a neutron beam using an inexpensive material while retaining high transparency, and a method of manufacturing the same; and to provide a neutron beam detector that detects, at a real time, fluorescence emitted at the moment of irradiation with a neutron beam.

The fluorescent material for detecting a neutron beam emitting fluorescence by irradiation with a neutron beam is a single crystal that is mainly composed of KCl and contains a rare earth element as an additive. The single crystal is grown by the Czochralski method or the Bridgman method.
