Abstract:
To provide a process for simultaneously manufacturing an aromatic aldehyde and hydrogen peroxide and a new catalyst for the process.
The aromatic aldehyde and the hydrogen peroxide can be simultaneously manufactured by irradiating a mixed solution of a benzene derivative and molecular oxygen with visible light in the presence of a photocatalyst containing a 9-substituted acridinium ion. The manufacture can be attained by developing a new catalyst having electron donor groups introduced to the 2 and 7 positions of the 9-substituted acridinium.
